Australian dried red waratah flower in a clear 7.5 x 6cm cube with gold foil at the base for extra sparkle. The waratah season is very short, so I dried a few red waratahs this summer because I wanted to use one in a lamp design. The base of the resin cube has a layer of gold foil and the flower sits at the top of the cube, allowing lots of light to flow through.
The waratah is the New South Wales state emblem.
The waratah flower is native to Australia and the flower head consists of many small flowers densely packed into a compact head. This flower has been dried in silica gel in my studio and embedded in resin with gold foil highlights.
The cube sits on a wooden LED light base with an on/off switch and a warm/cold light toggle. The LED light base is just slightly wider than the resin cube.
